Welcome to the web page of Councillor Ray Burston - one of the three Councillors representing Hayley Green and Cradley South.
I have been a Councillor on and off since 1988 and during that time I have endeavoured to help people sort out any issue they may have had with the Council, as well as being a voice for the interests of residents of my ward on matters such as roads, schools, housing and so on. With regard to my Council duties, I am the Council's representative on the Lutley Community Association and also serve on the Community Safety and Community Services Select Committee, examining better ways of reducing crime and improving public safety in the Borough.
In Summer 2007, I was chosen to be the Borough's new 'Autism Champion', with a brief to help people who are endeavouring to get by with this previously little-understood condition. I am also chairman of Autism Black Country - a social club dedicated to helping people with Asperger's Syndrome to find friendship and support through a range of different leisure activities. If either you or someone you know would like to know more about the club, feel free to contact me.
In May 2008 the Council graciously bestowed upon me the ultimate accolate for any councillor - to be the Mayor of Dudley for 2008/9. My charities for this year are the 'No Limits' Community Project (which assists young adults in Dudley with Aspergers Syndrome) and 'Thank You!' - five charities dedicated to helping former members of Her Majesty's armed forces who are in need of our help and support (comprising the Royal British Legion, Combat Stress, the Army Benevolent Fund, the Royal Naval Benevolent Trust, and the Royal Air Force Association).
If you would like to donate to my charity appeal, please forward a cheque payable to 'The Mayor Of Dudley's Charity Appeal 2008/9' to The Mayor's Secretary, Council House, Dudley, DY1 1HH. Alternatively, if you would like to request the presence of the Mayor at any activity you are organising to promote charitable giving or community involvement please e-mail
